Innovative Solutions for Retinal Disease

Philadelphia Retina Associates, formerly Deglin & Greene Retinal Center, is dedicated to providing care for patients with retinal disease. Our eye surgeons bring subspecialty fellowship training and innovative sight-restoring technology to the process of retinal surgery.

Intravitreal injection therapy and most laser procedures can be performed in the office. Retinal surgery is performed at the University of Pennsylvania's Scheie Eye Institute or Nazareth Hospital.

Conditions We Treat

About the Retina

The retina is an extremely complex part of the eye and plays an instrumental role in our vision. It lines the back of the eye and functions similarly to the film in a camera. The retina breaks down countless elements, including brightness, color, and movement, and converts them into electrical signals that are transmitted to the brain.

How Retinal Problems Develop

There are many factors that can contribute to the development of retinal problems, including diabetes, aging, high blood pressure, inherited disease, and trauma. While retinal disease may present no outward signs, these are symptoms that warrant an immediate visit to your eye doctor:

  • Sudden appearance of floaters or flashes
  • Blurred vision or vision loss
  • A dark spot in the center of your vision
  • A shadow over part of your vision
  • Poor night vision
  • Dark streaks that block your vision

Early Diagnosis Is Key

The ophthalmologists at Philadelphia Retina Associates (formerly Deglin & Greene Retinal Center) begin with a health history and eye exam using today's state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment. They can diagnose retinal problems in their earliest stages, when there are no outward signs.

Early diagnosis means early treatment, which is the best way to preserve your vision and reduce severe complications that can occur. Once your eye exam is complete, our eye doctors will take the time to go over the results with you so you have a complete understanding of your eye health.
